WPA staff, under Prof Wilcox's direction, contributed to the development of the first Home Office accredited Sex Offender Treatment Programme in the UK.
Additionally, Prof Wilcox undertook the first polygraph trials in the UK directly influencing the mandatory subsequent employment of this technology with convicted sex offenders on probation or licence, under conditions set out in the Offender Management Act (2007).
WPA Ltd has held national probation service contracts with Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and the West Midlands, providing specialist psychological/psychometric consultancy to offender assessment and treatment programmes.
Prof Wilcox has led the psychology provision for the Pan Birmingham Leaning Disability Forensic Service with the NHS, wherein WPA staff have given direct forensic psychology support and undertaken a service wide audit with the aim of improving care delivery and resource allocation.
WPA has had contractual employment and consultancy involvement with a number of residential and treatment programmes targeting services to young people with emotional challenges, learning difficulties and specific concerns, such as sexual behaviour.
WPA provides consultancy to clerical bodies in relation to decision making about the suitability of novices wishing to undertake faith based careers, in addressing ongoing challenges clerics may experience in undertaking their work and in relation to monitoring and managing perceived risk concerns.
