WPA were pleased to hear of the publication of the fourth edition of Forensic Psychology: Crime, Justice, Law, Interventions (BPS Textbooks in Psychology) earlier this month, in which includes Prof Daniel Wilcox & Prof Leam Craig's updated chapter, The Role of the Expert Witness.  This chapter (which Prof Wilcox and Prof Craig also authored in the third edition of the textbook) is an insightful overview of the responsibilities of an expert witness within care and family proceedings in the United Kingdom, including:

- Who should take instruction as an expert witness

- What is expected of an expert witness

- The standard of proof

- The process of giving oral evidence

- Dealing with cross examination
